SCV Stamps Beginner Pages

How do I organize them all???

[ SCV Stamp Page ] - [ Virtual Stamp Show ] - [ Beginner's Page ]

After collecting for a while, you will eventually end up with a box full of stamps, and no idea of what to do with them all.

Luckily, there are many different ways to organize your stamps.

At the very least, you can sort the stamps by country or by topic. Keep each country or topic in a separate envelope. When an envelope gets full, you know you have a country or a topic worth looking at in detail.

For a larger collection, there are still many options:

Stock Pages: there are manila and clear stock pages which you can use to display your stamps. These are letter-sized sheets with 3 to 7 rows you can slide stamps into. They cost 15 to 50 cents per sheet, depending on the type of sheet.

Blank Pages: You can use blank sheets of ordinary paper to organize your collection. You can use hinges (for used stamps) or stamp mounts (for mint stamps) to attach the stamps to the pages.

Albums: While everyone dreams of having a collection covering the entire world, and nice fancy albums for all of them, there are just too many stamps out there these days. There are over 100,000 different stamps which are priced less than $1 ... so any reasonably comprehensive worldwide album will have over 5000 pages! An album covering the average country in detail costs $100, and this is for ONE country.

So, you may need to pick a few countries and topics to concentrate on, and start with albums for them, or pick a range of years to collect. You can keep your other stamps on stock pages until you find other countries worth buying albums for.
